ABOUT US
The Major Taylor Cycling Club-North Carolina (MTCCNC) is a cycling club comprised of a diverse group of people with varied cycling experience. MTCCNC seeks to provide an environment where cyclists of all levels of experience can share in the appreciation and love of cycling. Membership is diverse and open to any cyclist, regardless of race, age, religion, or gender.
MTCCNC honors the legacy of Marshall "Major" Taylor, who overcame racial barriers to become the first Black world champion cyclist in 1899. Known as the “Fastest Man in the World,” Taylor’s achievements paved the way for future generations of athletes. The club serves as a living memorial to his perseverance and excellence by educating people about his life and advocating for diversity in cycling, particularly in underprivileged communities.
Secondly, MTCCNC promotes a healthy lifestyle through cycling and bringing people together with a common interest. Lastly, MTCCNC gives back to the community by volunteering and fundraising for various charitable organizations.
